DIGITAL PORTFOLIO MODULE 2

In this second module :

    • My first reflection is about why is so important filling a KWL chart. Before we start to prepare a unit or lesson we must to have a clear idea about what we want our students to learn at the end of each process. That's why we program their activities according the goals we decide they to achieve. We need to know where our students are at the beggining and above all what they should to know before start the new learning process. Therefore we have to provide them the knowledge they will need to start this process. In addition we have to list the specific contents both about the subject to learn and the language (grammar structures and vocabulary related to the subject and the tasks they will do) they need to get success. Eventually we need to have a clear vision about what habits, knowledge and skills we want our students to get in order to transfer them to different contexts from those they have learnt. To organize all this items is very useful the KWL chart because oblige us to reflect and, if necessary remake about every detail of our program, which prevent or reduce improvisation during the unit implementation.
    • Precisely when we talk about the language and thus the communicative skills we distinguish among those refering to the specific vocabulary with the subject of study and this the students need to acomplish their tasks in groups or pairs which implies an interpersonal type of vocabulary which goal is effective communication between peers and teacher. The other communicative situation will be that implying the language through, when students have to express and communicate or explain what they have learnt, their reflections, their communicative abitilities to expose their apprenticeship and connect new knowledge with the previous one which implies internalise the target language and reflect about the own learning evolution.
    • For the cooperative learning let's say that cooperation need stablish communication which lead us to the language as main communication during the sharing tasks. I've learn' different techniques of learning in cooperation. Is very use that these techniques being fun, such as games, contests and other activities where students can feel free and not stressed. I liked specially JIGSAW because pupils get more sefl-esteem and sense of be useful and above all is a very group work with each one assumning is own responsability and being care for the mates who need help, also I liked the fact that they change group mates during the process and the possibility of discuss between them without the pressure of to be accurate in the language. For the ROBIN ROUND let opportunity to talk to this pupils more shy and prevent pupils more talkative to monopolize the debate.
    • I've discover both PICKTOCHART AND THINGLINK which are very usefool tools, easy to play and I think not just to make posters for the class but for the students use them to create documents. In the case of my unit PHOTOSYNTHESIS, I demand my pupilst to create an explanatory model, this this tools would be perfecto to it. Obviously, I need more practice so as to manage this determined to achieve it. Below you can find a display.
    • I'd like to explore depth about other techniques of COOPERATIVE LEARNING. Any suggestion in this way would be welcome and so with tools from the web.
    • In short, it has been a useful module in order to improve my view about CLIL.
